Our group is called Rujs Crop And Agriculture Farmer Producer Company Limited. We are located over at No 1 Hatigarh, near Gurufela in the Kokrajhar area. Tarakeswar Roy is the one who helps keep things organized at his place. Most of us here in this part of Assam have been working the soil since we were small kids. It is a tough way to make a living, but it is what we have. We started this company because we were tired of doing everything separately and struggling. Now, we try to pool our resources together. We are not some polished outfit from the city. We are just farmers with calloused hands. You can usually find someone hanging around the office talking about the latest crop prices or complaining about the bugs. We do not have a fancy logo or anything like that. We just care about the crops we put in the ground. Life in Hatigarh revolves around the seasons. When it is time to harvest, everybody is busy from dawn until way after dark. We do not really have a boss, we just work as a team. It is about making sure we can buy decent fertilizer and get our produce to the market without losing too much money. It is not always easy and we make mistakes, but we are learning. We just want to keep our way of life going and make sure our families are fed and looked after. That is our main goal.
