Noipam Agro Producer Company Limited is based out of Tulashimukh. If you are looking for us, we are over at Naba Jyoti Borah’s place in Sukatiputa. It’s a group of local farmers who decided that working alone wasn’t really getting us anywhere. Most of the people involved live in the surrounding villages and have been farming for generations. We mostly deal with what’s in season. Sometimes it is jute, other times it is vegetables. It depends on what the ground is ready for. We don't have a big marketing team or a fancy building. Most of our meetings happen sitting on the porch or under a tree when the sun gets too high. We share the cost of the tractor and help each other out during the harvest when everyone is tired. The roads around here can get pretty bad when it rains, so getting the crops out to the main market is always a bit of a struggle. We’ve had some bad years where the water stayed too long in the fields, but you just have to keep going. We aren't trying to do anything grand. We just want to get a better price for the work we put in. It’s a lot of physical labor and early mornings. You won't find us in suits. We usually have dirt under our fingernails and plenty of stories about the crops we lost and the ones we saved.
