Holy Faith High School

Holy Faith High School is located out on Hunasigi Road in Kembhavi. Being in the Gulbarga and Yadgir area, it gets really dusty and hot quite often. Our building is a simple one, right by the side of the road. You can see the students walking in from the village early in the morning, carrying their bags and talking loudly. We have several classrooms that we try to keep as cool as possible. The walls are painted a basic color and we have charts pinned up everywhere. It is a local place, so most of the staff are from the surrounding villages too. We know the families and we know which kids need a bit more help with their reading. There is a lot of work to do every day, from marking registers to fixing a broken desk. We don't have a lot of modern gadgets, but we have enough books and teachers who actually care if a student shows up or not. The playground is just a flat patch of ground where the boys play cricket with a plastic bat. Lunchtime is the loudest part of the day when everyone opens their tiffin boxes. We just keep going, day after day, trying to make sure these kids get their high school certificates. It's practical work and it doesn't always go perfectly, but we stay busy and the school stays open. We just take it one day at a time here.
