Sri Sai Vikas Residential High School

Sri Sai Vikas Residential High School is located out in Chitvel, which is part of the Kadapa district. Being a residential school means things are a bit different here than at day schools. The kids actually live in the dorms on the property. We have rows of bunk beds and lockers where they keep their few things. In the mornings, everyone wakes up early to the sound of a whistle. It’s a busy life for the students. They have their breakfast in the common hall and then they go straight to the classrooms. Since we are in Kadapa, it can get really warm, so we try to keep the rooms as airy as we can. The staff here also lives on or near the grounds mostly. We see these kids more than we see our own families sometimes. It is a lot of responsibility making sure everyone is studying and also eating right. The building itself is practical. We don't have any marble floors or expensive decorations. It’s just walls, desks, and books. We focus on the high school subjects because that’s what the parents want for their children. People from around Chitvel know where we are. It’s a quiet enough area most of the time, except when the kids are out on the grounds playing or heading to the dining hall. We’ve been doing this for a while and we just take it one day at a time, making sure the schedule is followed properly.
