Krishna Boarding School

Down in Khamdhrol, which is near Junagadh, we run the Krishna Boarding School. Being a boarding school means things are a bit different here compared to the day schools. The kids stay with us, so the building is more than just classrooms. We have dormitories where the students sleep and a large hall where we all eat together. It’s a bit of a 24-hour job for some of us. The location in Junagadh is quite nice, with the hills not too far away. You can see them on a clear day from the upper windows. The atmosphere is a bit like a large, messy family. There’s always someone losing a sock or needing help with their homework in the evenings. We have a schedule for everything, from waking up to when the lights go out. The kitchen is always busy, cooking up large pots of dal and rice for the hungry kids. It’s not a luxury place, just plain rooms with metal beds and cupboards. We have a playground where the boys play cricket almost every evening until it gets too dark to see the ball. The staff lives on-site too, so we are always around if something happens. It gets a bit lonely during the holidays when all the kids go home to their parents, and the halls get very quiet. But most of the year, it’s a lively, noisy place to be with all the students around.
