Shree Kanji Sweets

Over at Mandore Road Paota Circle, things never really stop. Shree Kanji Sweets is right where all the traffic converges. You can hear the trucks and the bikes from early in the morning until late at night. We get a lot of dust from the road so we are always dusting the jars and the counter. The morning starts with us setting out the different trays. We have to be careful with the glass because it is old. Paota Circle is a landmark around here, so people often use us as a meeting point. They stand outside and wait for their friends. Inside, it is just the usual stuff—scales, some boxes, and the fridge. The light flickers sometimes if the voltage is low. We do not do anything special, just come in and do the work. The neighbors from the other shops come by for a chat when it is not busy. We know who likes what and we usually have it ready before they even ask. The stools behind the counter are a bit hard, so we stand up mostly. It is a lot of repeating the same motions day after day. Mandore Road is always changing, but our shop stays pretty much the same. We just keep things clean and wait for the evening rush when people are heading back home from work.
