Jitendra Arts is located at 43, Income Tax Colony, which is just near Imaritya Bera on Paota C Road. It’s more of a residential-feeling area than a commercial one, which makes the vibe here a little different. We’ve turned the space into a bit of a studio, though it still feels like a house in some ways. There are jars of brushes and tubes of paint scattered across every available surface. You have to be careful where you sit because there’s a good chance something is still drying. The light coming through the windows in the afternoon is actually pretty good for seeing colors, so that’s when we get the most done. It’s quiet enough here that you can hear the birds outside, which is a nice change from the busier parts of Jodhpur. We don't have a big staff or a fancy way of doing things. It’s just us and the art materials we use every day. Sometimes the cat from next door wanders in to see what we’re doing, and we just let it stay for a bit. The shelves are packed with finished work and half-done projects that we’ll get back to eventually. It’s not a perfectly organized business, but there’s a lot of soul in the mess. We just take things one day at a time and try to keep the brushes clean. It’s a simple life focused on the next piece of work we have to finish.
