Desert Artisans

We are based in the Iind Phase of Basni, at E-285-286. If you know where the Maruti Dharam Kata is, we are very close to that. This part of the industrial area is always buzzing with noise from the other units nearby. We focus on our craft work here. It is a large space but it feels small once you get all the tools and materials laid out on the benches. The sun hits the metal roof in the afternoon and it gets incredibly hot inside, so we have a few big fans running all the time. Our work involves a lot of manual labor and using hand tools to get the details right. It’s not something you can rush. We often have bits of wood or stone shavings on our clothes by the time we head home. We have a small area in the corner with some plastic chairs where we sit and eat our lunch together. There isn't much to look at around here, just other factories and trucks moving back and forth. We don't do any big advertising or anything. People usually find out about us through word of mouth or because they saw our sign while driving to the Dharam Kata. We just show up every morning, do the work as best as we can, and try to get home before the traffic gets too bad. It’s just us and our tools. There are about six of us in total who work here.
