Narendra Bahadur started this whole thing over in the Tarhar Gobara area. Allahabad is famous for a lot of big things, but here in our village, life is just about the crops and the seasons. We gathered a few local farmers together because trying to do everything alone was just getting too expensive and exhausting. This isn't some fancy, polished business with a glass office. We mostly meet up at Narendra’s spot and talk about the harvest or whatever is breaking down. Some years the rain is perfect and we feel lucky, but other years it is a real struggle. We try to help each other out with seeds when someone runs short. The soil here in Gobara is decent, but you really have to work it hard to get anything back. We don't have a marketing team or people in suits. We just write down what we have in our ledgers and see where we can sell it for a fair price. Sometimes the transport is a major problem because the big trucks don't like coming down our narrow dirt paths. We keep everything very simple. It is just a way to make sure our families are okay. We don't use big words or have some grand plan. We just farm and try to survive the market. Some days are just long and dusty.
