New Singh Tent

New Singh Tent is over at 500 Mohan Complex on New Kalimati Road. We are right opposite the Sakchi Gurudwara which is a very busy spot in Jamshedpur. If you ever walk by, you’ll probably see us moving poles or folding up large sheets of cloth. It is heavy work and my hands are usually rough from handling the ropes and the metal frames. We’ve been doing this for years. Putting up a tent sounds simple but when the wind picks up or the ground is uneven it becomes a real puzzle. We don't have a big corporate team, just a group of guys who know how to work hard. We handle weddings, religious functions at the Gurudwara, and local fairs. Sometimes we stay up all night to make sure everything is ready for a morning event. The warehouse stays a bit messy with all the decorations and pipes, but we know where everything is. It’s not a glamorous job. You get dusty and tired, but seeing a finished setup is a good feeling. We’ve seen many families grow up in this neighborhood. One year we do a kid's birthday and ten years later we are doing their graduation party. That is just how life goes in Sakchi. We just keep the truck maintained and wait for the next call to come in. It’s a steady way to live and we are used to the long hours and the heavy lifting by now.
