Das Tent

We are based out of Shanti Hari Avasan on IC Road in Bistupur. Our shop, Das Tent, is right opposite the Bistupur Post Office, which is a very easy landmark for everyone in Jamshedpur to find. The place is usually full of heavy things. We have stacks of iron poles, huge rolls of colored cloth, and those heavy carpets used for functions. It smells a bit like dusty fabric and metal in here. Our day starts early, usually with trucks being loaded up out front. Since we are right across from the post office, it’s always busy with people coming and going. We have a small desk where we keep the ledger and take notes on what needs to go where. It is not a fancy showroom. It’s more of a warehouse where the real work happens. Sometimes our hands are dirty from moving the equipment around. We talk to a lot of families who are planning weddings or small gatherings. In Bistupur, everyone knows everyone, so we often end up chatting about local news while we work out the details for a tent setup. The fans hum all day long to keep the heat away. It’s a very hands-on job, and our office reflects that. There are no soft chairs or decorations, just the tools of the trade and the people who know how to use them to get the job done right for the locals.
