Working at B. M. Metal down in Phase-3 GIDC means dealing with a lot of noise and heavy stuff all day. Our place is at Plot No. A-3249 and it’s pretty much what you’d expect from a metal shop in this part of town. There are stacks of metal sheets and rods piled up near the entrance and the sound of cutting or grinding is pretty much constant until we close up for the evening. It gets dusty, especially when the wind picks up across the industrial estate. We don’t have much in the way of a fancy lobby or anything; it’s just the workshop floor and a small corner for the files and the phone. Most of the guys have been here long enough that they don't need to be told what to do when a new load arrives. We just get to work moving things around. The gate squeaks a bit every time a truck pulls in. Sometimes the power goes out for a bit, which is just part of being in GIDC, so we take that time to clean up or have some water. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. The address A-3249 is easy to find once you get into Phase-3, just look for the pile of offcuts by the side door. We just focus on getting the orders ready and loaded up without making too much of a fuss.
