North East Tourism Co Operative

We are tucked away in Central Colony, Bhaktinagar, right near the Uria Mandir in Siliguri. Being a co-operative means we do things a bit differently at North East Tourism Co Operative. It’s more of a group effort here. The office is usually full of people talking at once, trying to coordinate trips up to the hills or over to the border. Siliguri is such a gateway, so we stay pretty busy with all the travelers passing through. We have a lot of tea while we work, mostly because the weather can get a bit damp and chilly. The mandir nearby is a good landmark, so people don’t usually get lost trying to find us. We don't have a big marketing budget or anything like that. Most of our work comes from people who have used us before and told their friends. It’s about being reliable and knowing the mountain roads, which can be tricky after a big rain. We have drivers who have been with the cooperative for years and they know the shortcuts through the hills better than anyone. It’s not a fancy operation, just some desks, a few maps on the wall, and a lot of local knowledge. We just try to keep the cars running and the schedules working as well as they can in this part of West Bengal. It’s a lot of work but we enjoy it.
