Our headquarters, if you can even call it that, is just at House Number 17 in Parner. Being in the Ambad area, we’re surrounded by people who understand the land as well as we do. J Gayatri Agro Producer Company Limited is a small group, mostly just friends and neighbors who decided to work together. We don’t have a storefront or a big warehouse with a sign out front. Most people just know to come to the house if they need to talk to us about the harvest. It gets pretty quiet out here, which is nice compared to the bigger towns in Jalna. We spend a lot of time sitting on the porch talking about the market prices or the latest rain totals. The office is basically a front room with a few tables and some old metal cupboards where we keep the files. It isn’t much to look at, but it’s where all the decisions get made. Sometimes the neighbors’ kids are playing in the street outside, and that’s just the background noise we work with. We don’t have a lot of rules or a strict schedule; we just get the work done when it needs doing. It’s a very local way of doing things, but it’s how we’ve always operated. If you’re ever in Parner, just ask for House 17 and someone will point you our way.
