Abhang-Avirat Mahila Farmer Producer Company Limited

Up in Karanjala, a few of us women started the Abhang-Avirat Mahila Farmer Producer Company Limited. We use Shri Jijabai Dattatrya Chavan’s place as our main point of contact. It’s located in Tq. Aundha, and the pin code is 431501. Being women farmers in this part of the country means we are always busy. We have the house to take care of and the fields too. We thought it would be better if we had a proper name for what we do together. So, when we have to discuss seeds or where to sell the harvest, we meet up at Jijabai’s house. It’s more of a community thing than a big business. We talk about the rain, which has been a bit strange lately, and how the soil is holding up. There’s usually some tea being made while we look over the papers. We aren’t experts in marketing or anything fancy, just people who know the land. Sometimes the mud is thick on our boots when we come in for a meeting, but that’s just how it is. It’s quiet in Karanjala, but we stay busy enough with the work. We wanted to make sure we have a voice when it comes to our produce. It’s a slow process, but we are doing it one day at a time here in the Aundha area. We help each other out when someone’s crop is failing or when there’s extra work to be done.
