Our office is at House Number 1, near the Idgah in Orai, Jalaun. It’s a well-known spot because of the Idgah. Virangana Bio Energy Farmer Producer Company Limited is what we call the business. We focus on bio energy, which basically means we look at how to use farm leftovers for something useful. It’s a lot of work and not very glamorous. We spend time at Shushela Devi’s place getting the paperwork in order. Orai is a hot place in the summer, so we usually get started very early. We aren't a big company with a lot of money. We are just a few locals trying to figure out a better way to handle agricultural waste. The office is small. We have a couple of fans and a lot of files. Most of our days are spent talking to local farmers about what they do with their stubble or husks. We don't have a big website or a social media team. We just go out and talk to people. Sometimes they listen, sometimes they don't. It takes time to change how things are done. We don't mind the slow pace. It’s how things move here in Jalaun. We just keep at it, day after day. It’s a simple living and we aren't looking for anything more than that. It’s about being part of the land and finding new uses for things that used to be thrown away.
