Over here at Gohand Tulsi Producer Company Limited, we focus mostly on growing tulsi. We are set up at Ram Singh’s place in Chilli Rath. Tulsi is a good crop for us because it doesn't need as much water as some other things, and it grows well in our soil. Ram Singh lets us use his space to keep everything organized. We are not a big company with a lot of money. We are just local people from the Rath area who know how to farm. Some days we are out in the sun all day, and other days we are just trying to figure out the transport. We don't have any fancy slogans or big promises. We just plant the seeds and take care of the plants until they are ready. It’s a lot of work and sometimes the market prices are not what we hope for, but we stick together. When you come to Chilli, you can find us at the C/O address usually talking about the next planting cycle. We have different people doing different tasks, but everyone knows the land. It’s a quiet life for the most part, except when it is time to harvest. Then everyone is busy and the smell of tulsi is everywhere in the air. We just do our best to keep the farming going for another year and hope the rain comes at the right time. Being part of this group makes the hard days in the fields a little easier for everyone.
