Shiva Public School

The school is located in Sant Nagar, right off the Jalandhar Road here in Nurmahal. If you know the area, you know how busy that road can get with the trucks and buses passing through all day long. We have been part of the neighborhood for a good number of years. It’s a typical school building, nothing too flashy or modern, just solid walls and big windows that we have to keep shut when it gets dusty outside. In the mornings, you can hear the kids long before you see them. They gather in the courtyard, and there is that usual chaos of lost water bottles and heavy school bags. The teachers usually arrive a bit early to get the chalk and registers ready before the first bell rings. We have a small playground area which isn't huge but it serves the purpose for a game of tag or a quick match of cricket during the break. The walls are painted a simple color, and we have some charts the kids made hanging in the hallways. Sometimes the paint peels a bit because of the rain, but we just fix it up when we have the time and money. It’s a local place where everyone knows each other’s names. You see parents stopping by to chat at the gate or dropping off a lunch box they forgot. It is just a normal school day for us, year after year, keeping the kids busy.
