R.P. Rice Mills

R.P. Rice Mills is out in Village Bhanra. It’s a bit quieter out here than in the main towns. We like it that way. Most of our work comes from the farmers right here in the village or just down the road. We have a few sheds for storage and the main mill building. The machines are getting a bit old, but they still work fine if you treat them right. We spend a lot of time greasing the parts and making sure nothing is loose. My brother and I run the place with a few helpers. We don't have a big sign out front, just the gate. People know where we are. In the winter, the fog gets so thick you can barely see the mill from the road. We still have to get up and start the motors though. The smell of the husk burning in the boiler is something I’ll always associate with home. We don't do any big advertising. Word of mouth is enough for a place like Bhanra. Sometimes we have to stop for a few days if there's a problem with the electricity, which happens more often than we'd like. We just use that time to sweep up the floors and fix the bags. It’s steady work. It isn't a fancy business, just a mill in a village doing what needs to get done. We just keep our heads down and worry about the day's tasks until the sun sets.
