A.G. Rice Mills Pvt. Ltd. is out on Nakodar Road. It’s a long stretch of road and we’re right there in the thick of it where the heavy trucks always go by. It’s a noisy place to be, as you’d probably expect with a mill, but we’ve grown used to the sound over the years. We spend most of our hours dealing with the arrivals and making sure everything is moving along the line. It certainly isn't a clean or quiet office job. There's dust and the heavy smell of grain everywhere, but that's what makes it feel like real work. We’ve been at this for a long time. Most of the guys working here have been together for years, so we don't really need to say much to get the work done. Nakodar Road is a main artery for this kind of business. We see a lot of the same faces every single season. We don't have a big marketing department or anyone to write fancy letters for us. We just focus on what's right in front of us. Some days are much longer than others, especially when the big harvests start coming in. We just keep the machines running and handle the logistics as they come. It's a simple setup without many frills. If you walk into our office, you’ll probably see piles of ledgers and someone shouting on the phone. We don't worry about being modern or using high-tech gadgets. As long as the work gets done and the trucks are loaded, we’re happy.
