Pawan Rice Mills

Pawan Rice Mills is located on Papara Road. It’s a dusty stretch of road, especially when the trucks are moving back and forth all day long. We’ve been operating out of this same spot for a long time. There isn't much to see other than the silos and the piles of husks. We spend a lot of time checking the moisture in the grain before it goes through the mill. It’s tedious work, but it has to be done right or the rice breaks. We aren't corporate people with suits and ties. Most of the time we are wearing work clothes that are stained with oil or dirt. That’s just the reality of running a mill on Papara Road. We don't spend money on advertising because everyone around here already knows who we are. We just focus on keeping the equipment running and making sure the bags are stitched up tight. Sometimes the power goes out, and everything stops, and we just sit outside and talk until it comes back on. It’s a local business through and through. The guys working here have been with us for years. We aren't trying to change the world, we are just trying to process the harvest and get it where it needs to go. It’s hard, honest work and it keeps us busy from sunrise to sunset most days of the week. We just keep our heads down and get on with things. It’s a simple way to spend the day.
