Our mill is located in Village Salaich, near Shahkot in the Kapurthala district. If you’re driving down Salaich Road, you can’t really miss us. M R Rice Mill Pvt. Ltd. has been operating here for quite some time now. During the harvest season, this whole area gets incredibly busy. We have trucks lined up all the way down the road, filled with paddy waiting to be processed. The air is always a bit thick with the smell of rice husks and the sound of the machines running. It’s a loud place, and we’re usually covered in a bit of dust by the end of the shift. We have a lot of local workers from the village and the surrounding areas who have been with us for years. It’s hard work, especially when the weather is hot or when we’re trying to meet a big deadline. We don't have a fancy reception area or anything like that. If you come to see us, you’ll likely find us on the mill floor or in the small office nearby. We deal with farmers, traders, and transport guys all day long. Sometimes the machinery breaks down and we have to scramble to get it fixed, which can be stressful. But that’s the nature of the milling business. We just focus on getting the rice processed and packed up so it can be sent out to the markets. It’s a simple, honest way to make a living in this part of Punjab. We just keep our heads down and work.
