Krishna Floor Mill

You can find Krishna Floor Mill at Shop No. 21-22 in the Jawahar Nagar shopping centre. It’s a bit different from the big industrial mills because we are right there in the middle of where people live and shop. The sound of the grinders is a constant hum that the neighbors have probably gotten used to by now. People come in with their small containers or bags, looking for fresh flour for their kitchens. The air inside the shop always feels a bit heavy with the scent of ground wheat and maize. We spend a lot of time cleaning the stones and making sure the fineness is just right. It’s a small space, so we have to be careful where we stack the bags so people can actually walk in. We talk to everyone who comes through the door. It’s not just about the grain; it’s about hearing how the family is doing or complaining about the heat outside. Our clothes always have that white dusting of flour on them, no matter how much we brush them off at the end of the shift. We don't have a big corporate team, just a couple of us working the machines and helping the customers. It’s a simple, local shop. We open early and stay open until the evening rush is over. It’s been our daily routine for years.
