Grand Public School

Grand Public School is situated in a bit of a junction area, near Khaira and Bhattian, right by the G T Road in Phillaur. Since we are on the NH1, we see a lot of the world passing by our front gates every day. It’s a big spot, and you can’t really miss the school if you’re driving between Jalandhar and Ludhiana. The playground is quite large, which is nice for the kids, though keeping the grass trimmed in the monsoon is a real headache for our caretaker. We have students coming in from all the nearby villages and the town of Phillaur itself. The morning assembly is a loud affair with everyone gathered in the yard. The building is a bit spread out, so there is a lot of walking between the different blocks. We deal with the usual highway problems like dust and noise, but the classrooms are set back far enough that it’s okay once you’re inside. We don’t have any fancy corporate speak here; it’s just a school run by people who live in Jalandhar. We spend our time making sure the buses are running on time and the teachers have what they need for the day’s lessons. It’s a practical, busy place with a lot of energy. Sometimes things are a bit chaotic when the bell rings, but that’s just how it goes here. We just try to keep things organized for the students.
