About Vishwakarma Machinery Works – Metals & Minerals in Jaipur
We have been here at 33 Station Road for a long time now. It is right opposite the Dainik Navjyoti Press building. Usually, our day starts early when the traffic on the road is just picking up. There is a lot of oil and grease everywhere in our shop because that is just the nature of working with machinery. My hands are rarely clean during the day. We have various tools and old lathes sitting around. Some days it gets very noisy because of the cutting and grinding we do. The floor is usually covered in metal shavings. We take a tea break around eleven when the chai wallah comes by. It is a small place but we manage to fit everything in. Sometimes people struggle to find the exact door because the street is so busy with people going to the press or the station. And the walls haven't been painted in years but the machines run just fine. We mostly focus on fixing parts that people bring in. It is not a fancy office or anything like that. Just a workshop with high ceilings and a lot of iron smell in the air. We keep the doors open for some air, but that also lets in all the dust from Station Road. It is just the way things are here. We work until the sun goes down and then lock up the heavy shutters for the night. We've got used to the noise.
