V J Gems

We are V J Gems, and our place is near the Jaipur G P O on M I Road. It’s a very central location, so we see a lot of people passing by every single day. We spend a lot of time sorting through small packets of stones. It requires a lot of light and a steady hand. My grandfather used to do this, and he taught us the trade. M I Road is the heart of the city, and being near the post office means we are always running back and forth to mail things. It keeps us on our feet. The building is old, and the stairs are a bit steep. You get used to it after a while. We don't have a website with bells and whistles or anything. We just prefer to talk to people directly. Most of our customers have been coming to us for decades. They know where we are. We drink a lot of chai during the day to stay sharp. It’s a simple setup. We don't need much to do our jobs. Just the stones, the scales, and a bit of patience. That’s how we have always run things here. The light in the afternoon is the best for looking at the clarity of the stones. We usually try to get the most important sorting done before the sun starts to go down. Our workspace is small, so we have to be very organized. Everything has its own little drawer or box. It might look like a mess to someone else, but there is a system to it.
