Simsim Silver

Simsim Silver is tucked away inside the Char Darwaza area at House No. 4763. It is one of those older parts of the city where the lanes are very narrow and the buildings have a lot of character. Our workshop is quite small and the lighting isn't always the best for detailed work, but we make it work for us. We have been working with silver in this family for a couple of generations now. There is always the distinct sound of small hammers tapping away if you happen to walk past our door during the day. We don't have a big glass display case or a security guard standing out front. It is just a plain, simple door that leads directly into our workspace. We sit on the floor mostly, working at low wooden benches that have seen better days. It gets pretty hot in the summer because the ventilation isn't great, but we have a small electric fan that helps a bit. Most of our days are spent cleaning, polishing, and shaping the silver metal. We don't really do the whole modern business thing with fancy labels or expensive packaging. We just wrap the items in soft cloth or brown paper when they are finally done. Sometimes people get lost trying to find us because the house numbers are a bit confusing in this old neighborhood. But once they finally find us, they usually end up coming back again. It’s just the way we do things here.
