Shyam Tools Store

You can find us at 1755 Chandpole, specifically at the first chouraha on the way to Jat Ke Kue Ka Rasta. It’s an old part of the city, so the lanes are narrow and always full of people and scooters. Shyam Tools Store is a small shop, but we pack a lot into it. We’ve got tools hanging from the walls and ceiling. It’s a bit dark inside because the buildings are so close together, but we have a few bright bulbs to help see the small parts. I’ve been sitting behind this counter for a long time. People come in looking for specific wrenches or drill bits, and I usually know exactly which drawer they’re in. We get a lot of foot traffic because of where we are. It’s not the kind of place where you’d find a fancy showroom. It’s more of a place where you come to get what you need and talk for a few minutes about the weather. Sometimes the neighbor from the tea stall brings over a glass, and we sit on the stools outside for a break. The city noise is everywhere here—horns, shouting, and the sound of the market. It’s a bit chaotic but it’s home. We don't really do anything besides sell tools and help people figure out what size bolt they need. We stay open until the sun goes down and the market starts to quiet.
