Asian Power Tools

Our shop is down in Indira Bazar, specifically in the Lal Pura House Compound. If you’re familiar with M I Road, you can find us in the Amar Vijay Complex at G-2. We deal mostly with power tools, so there’s often the sound of a drill being tested or a saw being checked. It’s a pretty busy part of town. People come in with their old machines hoping we can fix them or looking to get something new for a job they’re working on. The shop isn't very big, so we have to be clever about how we stack the boxes. Boxes of drills and grinders are everywhere. We usually start the day early before the heat gets too bad. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting heavy crates and showing people how the different buttons work. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just have to wait it out with a hand fan. We’ve seen the market change a lot over the years, with new brands coming and going. We just try to keep the stuff that actually works well for the local builders and mechanics. It’s a simple life. We close up when the sun goes down and head home, then do it all again the next morning. It’s just us here, making sure people have the tools they need to finish their projects. It is a bit loud and dusty, but it is our livelihood.
