Shree Ganesh Bartan Bhandar

Shree Ganesh Bartan Bhandar is located right in the middle of Mahaveer Market on the main road in Virat Nagar. It’s a loud place because of all the metal clanging around. We sell all kinds of pots, pans, and steel plates. If you walk in, you’ll see stacks of stainless steel reaching almost to the ceiling. It’s a bit of a maze in here. My family has been doing this for years. We know which brand of pressure cooker lasts and which one is just trouble. People come here when they are setting up a new kitchen or when a daughter is getting married. We don't have fancy displays or those bright lights like in the city malls. It’s just us and a lot of metal. Dust gets on everything because of the market road, so we spend a lot of time wiping things down with old rags. Sometimes we lose track of a specific lid or a small bowl in the back piles. It takes a minute to find things. We talk to the other shopkeepers a lot. We’ve known the families around Kuthada for a long time. It’s honest work. We open early and close when the market gets quiet. Nothing too complicated about it. If someone needs a special size of tawa, we usually have to dig through the bottom crates to find it. It's dusty work but we are used to it by now. The metal gets cold in the winter mornings.
