Shivam Steel Industries

Our shop is No.3/20 in the Chitrakoot area. We are right on Gandhi Path in Vaishali Nagar. It’s a decent spot for a steel business because it’s easy enough for the trucks to get in and out, at least when the traffic isn't too bad. The noise of the metal being moved around is pretty constant at Shivam Steel Industries. We have stacks of steel rods and heavy sheets all over the place. You really have to watch your step so you don't trip over something sharp. The air always has that smell of iron and dust. We spend most of our day measuring out lengths and getting orders ready for the local builders who come by. It’s a messy job and our clothes are usually covered in grime by the end of the shift. We have a small office area boxed off in the corner, but we don't spend much time sitting in there. Most of the real work happens out on the shop floor where the materials are. We’ve been in Vaishali Nagar for a while now and we know how the local market works. People just drop by with a list of what they need, and we see if we have it in the stacks. There’s no big sales pitch. We just show them the stock and figure out the price. It’s a practical way to run things. We keep the machines for cutting in the back.
