Rathi Gems

Rathi Gems is found near the Jaipur G P O on Jaipur Road. It’s a good place to be because the post office is right there, which makes shipping things out a lot easier for us. We have been set up here for a while now. The road gets a lot of traffic during the day, so there is always noise from the cars and bikes. Inside the shop, it’s a bit more peaceful. We mostly sit at our benches and look at pieces. We don't have a big corporate office or anything like that. It’s just a room where we do our work. Sometimes people stop by just to ask for directions because of where we are located. We don’t mind. Jaipur Road is a long stretch, and we are just one small part of it. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we are too busy to worry about that right now. We just focus on the gems and getting things done. My father started this, and now I am here. It’s a family thing, really. We don’t try to be anything we aren't. Just a local shop doing what we’ve always done. The days are long sometimes, but that’s how it goes when you have your own place. We usually have the windows open to get some air, though that means a bit of dust comes in from the road. It's a trade-off. We have a small kettle in the corner for making tea when it gets late. There aren't any fancy chairs for visitors, just a couple of wooden stools.
