Rashtriya Bartan Bhandar

Rashtriya Bartan Bhandar sits right on the main stretch of Tripoliya Bazar at 185. It is a very old and famous part of the city, so it’s always packed with people looking for household things. Our shop is full of metal. We have stacks of stainless steel plates, brass pots, and aluminum pans everywhere you look. If you walk in, you’ll hear the sound of metal hitting metal as we move things around for customers. We spend a lot of time climbing ladders to reach the big pots stored near the ceiling. It’s a bit of a maze inside because we try to fit as much stock as possible into the space we have. When it’s wedding season, the shop gets incredibly busy and we are on our feet for twelve hours straight. People come in looking for sets to give as gifts, and we spend a lot of time wrapping things up in old newspapers. The floor is stone and has been worn smooth by thousands of feet over the years. We don't have any bright neon signs or fancy advertisements. People just know we are here because we’ve been here at this same spot for a long time. It’s a loud, clattering kind of place, but it feels right to be part of the old bazaar. We just keep stacking the steel and helping the people who walk through the door.
