Rameshwar Dayal & Co

Our office for Rameshwar Dayal & Co is on Station Road, right across from Hotel Mewar. This part of town is incredibly busy because of the railway station being so close. There’s a constant stream of rickshaws, pedestrians, and travelers moving past our door. The building we’re in is one of the older ones, with thick walls and high ceilings. Inside, it’s mostly desks and stacks of files. We’ve been here for a long time, and the atmosphere is very traditional. We don't have air conditioning that works all the time, so we rely on the ceiling fans to keep the air moving. The sound of train whistles and the general commotion of the station area is the background music to our workday. We deal with a lot of different people, from local traders to folk just passing through. Our day usually starts with a lot of paperwork and a hot cup of tea from the stall nearby. We don't have any fancy signage or modern glass fronts. It’s just a plain wooden door and a sign with our name. People find us because they’ve known us for years or because they were told to come here. It’s a very grounded way of doing things. We don't rush through the day; we just take things as they come. Station Road has its own pace, and we’ve just become a small part of that over the decades.
