Rajasthali Textile Development Corporation

We are situated on Amer Road, right across from the Barahampuri Police Station. This place is called the Rajasthali Textile Development Corporation. It’s a bit of a mouthful, but we just think of it as the workshop and store. The building is older, and you can always hear the sirens from across the street. We deal with a lot of traditional fabrics and textiles from around the region. Inside, there are stacks of cloth everywhere—bright colors and different patterns that haven't been sorted yet. We have a few old wooden tables where we measure out the fabric for customers. It’s not a shiny mall shop. It’s a place where work gets done. The staff here has been around for ages, and they know a lot about the different weaves. We don't have a marketing department or anything like that. We just open the doors in the morning and wait for people to come in. Sometimes tourists wander in because we’re on the way to the fort, but mostly it's locals. The light in the front is good for seeing the colors, but the back of the shop is a bit dark. We use a lot of old-fashioned calculators and write out receipts by hand. It’s a bit slow, but it gets the job done. We just care about the fabric and making sure the rolls are kept dry and clean. That’s what we do every day.
