Gupta Silk

You can find us over in Johari Bazar, specifically on the first floor of the Bullion Building in Haldiyon Ka Rasta. It’s a tight squeeze in these old streets sometimes, but that’s the charm of this part of town. Silk is what we handle every day. It’s a delicate material, so we have to be careful how we store it. The sunlight can be tricky coming through the windows, so we move things around a lot. People usually walk up the stairs and find us tucked away. It’s not a huge space, but we make it work with shelves all the way to the ceiling. Sometimes the noise from the bazaar below is quite something, especially during festival seasons. We drink a lot of tea while we work. We aren't trying to impress anyone with a showroom; it's more of a working office and storage spot. We check the silk for weight and color, making sure everything is what it should be. The stairs are a bit steep, so we tell people to watch their step. It’s been our base for a good while. Dealing with silk requires a bit of patience and a good eye for detail. We mostly talk to wholesalers and locals who’ve been coming here for years. It’s a simple operation, really. Just a few of us making sure the silk gets out the door properly. We don't make things complicated, we just stick to what we know.
