R N Fabrication is tucked away in Chandpole Bazar on Baba Harish Chandra Marg, at number 1421. It’s a very old part of the city and the streets are quite narrow, so getting materials in and out can be a real headache sometimes. We have to time the deliveries just right or the whole road gets blocked up. Inside the shop, it’s a bit dark but we have plenty of light for the welding. There’s always that smell of burnt metal in the air, which I’ve grown to like over the years. We do all sorts of fabrication work, mostly stuff that people bring in because it’s broken or they need a custom fit for their old houses. It’s not a high-tech operation; we use tools that have seen a lot of use but they still get the job done. My father started working around here, and I just stayed on to keep things moving. We don't have any fancy signs or a big storefront. Usually, people just see the sparks from the street and walk in to ask if we can weld something for them. The tea guy comes around twice a day and that’s when we take a break to sit on the stools outside. It’s a crowded, noisy life in the bazar, but we wouldn’t really know what to do with ourselves in a quiet office. It stays busy like this all year.
