We’re over at 45, Gaytri Nagar, near Ajmer Road in Sodala. This part of Jaipur is always moving. Our workspace is usually filled with the smell of fabric and dyes. We do a lot of work with our hands, whether it’s sorting through textiles or looking at different handicraft pieces. It’s not a clean, white-walled office. There are stacks of cloth everywhere and boxes waiting to be sent out. We don't really use big marketing slogans. We just show people the work and they can see if it’s what they need. Sometimes we spend hours just trying to get the right shade of a color or making sure the stitching is decent. It’s a lot of repetitive movement, but you get used to it. The staff here is pretty small, and we all end up doing a bit of everything, from packing to answering the door. We’ve been in Sodala for a while and we know the other shop owners on the street. It’s a community. We don't have a fancy website or anything. Most people find us by walking in or through word of mouth. It gets hot in the summer, so we have a few old fans running that make a lot of noise. It’s just a regular workshop where we try to keep the quality okay and the orders moving. We take our tea breaks together in the afternoon and talk about how things are going. It’s a simple life focused on the things we make.
