Pyala The Tea Lounge

Our tea lounge is at 264 Muktanand Nagar, just off the Gopalpura Byepass. It is a spot where a lot of people stop when they are bypass-bound or heading back from work. We spend a lot of our time boiling water and washing out the small glass cups we use. The tea is always on the stove, and the smell of ginger and cardamom usually fills up the small space we have here. We don’t have big fancy sofas, just some basic seating for people to take a break. It gets crowded in the evenings when the weather cools down a bit and everyone wants something hot to drink. We do a lot of the work ourselves, from picking up the milk in the morning to sweeping the sidewalk out front where people stand to talk. The bypass is always loud with trucks, but inside the lounge, it’s a bit more manageable. We have a few regulars who come in every single day at the same time, and we usually have their tea ready before they even sit down. It’s not a complicated business; we just make the tea, serve it, and keep the place tidy. Sometimes we run out of sugar or milk and have to close for ten minutes to go get more. It’s just how we run things here in Muktanand Nagar and we like the simple routine of it.
