Prima Gems is situated over in Durgapura, at Prthviraj Nagar 72. It’s a bit of a quieter spot than the city center, which we actually like. Our office is more like a workshop where we sit on low stools under bright lights. We spend hours looking at small stones through magnifying glasses, which is hard on the eyes after a while. The room is usually very quiet because everyone is concentrating on their work. You can hear the birds in the trees outside because we aren't right on a main highway. We have these small wooden trays lined with white cloth to hold the gems so they don't get lost. Sometimes we drop a small stone and everyone has to stop what they are doing and help look for it on the floor. Our desks are old and the wood is worn down from years of use. We don't have a big staff, just a few people who have been with us for a long time. Lunch is usually a quiet affair in the small kitchen area. We might not have a fancy storefront in the big market, but we prefer the calm of Durgapura. It’s a steady job of sorting, weighing, and recording everything in our big cloth-bound books. We close up exactly at 6 and walk down the lane to the main road. The walk helps us clear our heads before going home to our families in the evening.
