We are over at New Mandi, shop number 101. It’s a different setup from the other shops nearby. We focus more on the industrial side of steel. The space is filled with heavy machinery and the smell of cut metal. It can get pretty loud when the saws are running. We’ve been in this spot for a while now. The floor is concrete and has plenty of scratches from moving heavy loads. We don't really do much in the way of decorating. There are some old calendars on the wall and a small desk for the paperwork. Most of the time we are on our feet, moving stuff around or checking the inventory. New Mandi is always busy with people buying and selling, so there is a lot of energy. We get our shipments in early and try to get them sorted before the midday heat. Sometimes the power goes out and the machines stop, so we just take a break and sit outside. It’s just the way things are here. We don't try to be anything we aren't. We just provide steel to anyone who needs it for their projects. My father used to run things, and now I handle the day-to-day. We know the other shop owners around here. It’s a good community. We keep things simple and just focus on the metal and the orders that come in every single day.
