Down at E- 96 in the Sitapura Industrial Area, things move pretty fast. Being in the Garment Zone on Tonk Road means we are surrounded by other factories and workers all day long. The sun hits the metal roof of the building hard during the summer months. Inside Pawan Fabtex, it’s mostly just the sound of the machines and people talking over the noise. We have big rolls of fabric leaning against the walls and threads of every color you can think of. It’s an organized mess, I suppose. We spend our mornings checking the latest batches and making sure the machines are running right. If one breaks down, everything slows down, which is always a headache for everyone. We aren't trying to be the biggest factory in Jaipur. We just want to get the orders done so we can get home to our families in the evening. Lunch is usually eaten together on the small benches outside if there's a breeze. We’ve been in this spot for several years and have seen the area change quite a bit. The roads are better now, but the traffic on Tonk Road is still a nightmare in the evenings. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing. There’s no secret to it, just showing up every morning and staying until the last box is taped shut and ready for the truck.
