Nikhil Steel Building Material on New Sanganer Road is a busy place most mornings. We are located right near St. Anselm School, so we hear the bells and the kids all day long. The shop is filled with steel rods and different building supplies that contractors need for local jobs. It gets quite dusty here because of all the trucks coming and going from Hira Path. We started this business because people around Mansarovar needed a place for their construction needs without going too far into the city. Most of the time, we are just moving heavy things around and checking the stock in the back. The sun hits the front of the shop pretty hard in the afternoons, making the metal hot to touch. We have been in this spot for a while now and most of the locals know where to find us. It’s not a fancy office or anything, just a practical space where work gets done. Sometimes the traffic on the road makes it hard to back the trailers in, but we manage. My cousin usually helps me out with the loading when things get really hectic. We drink a lot of tea while waiting for the next delivery truck to show up. It is a simple life of managing inventory and talking to builders who are working on houses nearby. We don't have a big team, just a few of us who know the materials well. We try to keep things organized but in a metal yard, that is easier said than done.
