Mateshwari Travels

I've been sitting in this shop on Ajmer Road for a long time now. It’s Shop Number-21, right across from where P L Motors is located. If you know the area near Purani Chungi, you’ve probably passed by us without even noticing. It’s just a small place, nothing fancy at all. Most days start early here because the traffic on Ajmer Road gets really loud and busy by nine. I usually spend the morning checking on the drivers and making sure the cars are actually clean enough for people to sit in. My nephew helps me out sometimes, but mostly it's just me handling the bookings and the phone calls. We don't have a big fancy office with air conditioning that works all the time, just a couple of chairs and a desk where we keep our logbooks. People stop by and ask for directions more than they ask for travel prices some days, but that's just how it is in this part of Jaipur. We try to keep things simple here. If someone needs a car to go somewhere, we see if we have a driver free. Sometimes the traffic makes everything run late, which is frustrating for everyone, but we do what we can. The tea stall nearby keeps us going through the afternoon slump. It’s not a glamorous job, just honest work helping people get from one place to another without too much fuss.
