Madhav Gems

You can find Madhav Gems over in Ambedkar Colony, specifically in Purohit Ji Ka Bagh off M I Road. It’s a bit of a tucked-away spot, but we like it that way. Being at number 7 means we have our own little corner. The area has changed a lot over the years, but we’ve stayed pretty much the same. We handle a lot of different stones every day. It’s a lot of sitting and looking through magnifying lenses. Sometimes my eyes get tired by the afternoon. We have a small staff, and we’ve all known each other for a long time. M I Road is always packed, but once you turn into the colony, it gets quieter. We don’t have fancy displays or bright lights. Most of our tools are old, but they still work just fine. We don't see a need to change things if they aren't broken. People find us by word of mouth mostly. We just keep our heads down and do the sorting. The floor is made of old stone and it stays cool even when the sun is beating down outside. We have a few cabinets filled with old records and samples from years ago. It’s a bit cluttered, but we know exactly where everything is. We don't use computers much, mostly just for the basic stuff. We prefer the old way of doing things. It feels more real to us. Sometimes the neighbors come in just to say hello and we take a break for ten minutes. It’s that kind of place.
