Working in the Sitapura Industrial Area means you get used to the dust and the constant sound of machinery from the neighboring units. Our place is pretty straightforward. We have a large open area where most of the manual work happens. It can get quite hot in the afternoons, especially during the summer months in Rajasthan. We have large industrial fans that move the air around, but they’re quite loud. You have to speak up to be heard over them. Most of our day is spent checking on things and making sure everything is moving along as it should. There isn't much in the way of office furniture—just a few sturdy tables and chairs that have seen better days. We don’t really get many visitors, so we don’t worry too much about how the place looks to outsiders. It’s more about getting the work done. The tea guy comes by twice a day with a kettle, and that’s usually the highlight of the morning and afternoon. We keep the main shutter open most of the day to let in some light. It’s a hardworking atmosphere, and everyone just gets on with their specific tasks. Sometimes we stay late when there’s a big shipment going out, and the whole area feels different when the sun goes down and the other factories start closing up. It’s a rough and ready kind of life here in Sitapura.
