Acme Art India

You can find Acme Art India over in Dadabari, Sanganer. Sanganer is a place with a lot of history, and you can feel that when you walk through the streets. Our building is pretty simple and fits right in with the neighborhood. We don’t have any fancy glass windows or modern art on the walls, despite the name. It’s a working space where things actually get made. There’s usually some paint or ink somewhere it shouldn’t be, and the floors are never quite as clean as we’d like them to be. We have a few long tables where the work happens, and there’s always a radio playing somewhere in the background, usually some old songs. The air in Dadabari is often filled with the smell of dyes and wood. It’s a busy life, and we don’t have much time for sitting around. We handle a lot of different artistic pieces, and each one takes its own amount of time. Sometimes things go wrong, a screen breaks or the color isn't right, and we just have to start over. That’s just part of the process. We don’t have a big mission or anything; we just want to do the work and make sure it’s decent enough to send out. The people who work here are locals who know the trade inside out. We just keep doing what we know how to do.
