If you know the Ghanta Ghar Thana, then you know exactly where we are. We are right opposite the station, situated inside the Mehta Jewellers shop. It is a very busy part of town and the noise from the street never really stops. You can hear the sirens and the shouting from the market all day long. The office is a bit cramped because we share the space, but it has a history to it. We have these old wooden counters that have been here since the beginning. Most days, we just handle the gold work and keep track of the daily weights. It’s a lot of writing in registers and checking the scales. We don’t have a website or any fancy advertisements. People usually just walk in because they were passing by the clock tower and needed something looked at. The tea here is actually quite good, we get it from the stall right on the corner. Sometimes it gets so crowded in the shop that you can barely move, but that’s just life in this neighborhood. We don’t mind the chaos too much. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, and the ceiling fan wobbles a little when it’s on high, but it keeps us cool enough while we work through the afternoon orders.
