You can find Jewels N Tools in the Vardhman Complex, right in the middle of Johari Bazar. Being at 307 means you have to walk through the crowded market and up the stairs. Johari Bazar is always a mess of people, rickshaws, and tourists, so it’s a relief to get inside the complex sometimes. Our shop is small and packed with tiny items. We sell the things jewelers need, like small pliers, precision saws, and polishing bits. Everything is kept in little plastic bins or glass cases because the pieces are so small they could easily get lost. The lighting has to be very bright so people can see the fine details of the tools. It’s not a quiet place because you can hear the noise from the street below all day long. We spend a lot of time counting out small quantities of items for customers who come in from the nearby jewelry shops. There’s an old stool behind the counter where someone is usually sitting and checking the stock. We don’t have any big posters or fancy displays. It’s just rows and rows of metal tools. The air is a bit stuffy because there isn't much cross-ventilation in these old market buildings. We usually have a small radio playing in the background to pass the time. It’s a very specific kind of business for a very specific kind of customer, and we have been here doing this for quite some time now.
