Jhotwara Industrial Area is where we spend our days. Our spot is at 92-B. It is a loud place with all the iron work going on. The rollers are heavy and they make a lot of noise throughout the shift. You can smell the metal in the air. We’ve been at this for some time. There are other shops and factories all around us in the area. Most mornings start with checking the machines. If something breaks, we fix it ourselves right there. It’s a messy job, and your clothes get dirty pretty fast. We don't have a fancy air-conditioned office. We just have a small corner where we keep the books and take our lunch. The tea guy comes around twice a day, which is the highlight of the afternoon. Sometimes the trucks get stuck in the narrow entrance when they come to pick up the rods. It’s just how it is in Jhotwara. We focus on getting the iron rolled out right. There’s no secret to it, just long hours and watching the heat. The guys working here are from the nearby areas. We know each other well. It's a tough line of work but it keeps the lights on. We don't bother with fancy signs or advertisements. People in the trade know where 92-B is located. We just keep our heads down and do the work. It gets dusty, but that’s the iron business.
